Last week, our managing director Liam Hanlon and the Rustman Tri-4-life team took on its latest challenge, The North Coast 500. This iconic and incredible cycle route takes you through Scotland’s breathtaking landscapes.
The route circumnavigates the entire North Coast of Scotland, from Inverness, across to the west coast and then right around the west, north and east coast ending back in Inverness. The circular tour of the Scottish Highlands is a grueling 500-mile cycle that ascends 37,000 feet over five long days.
The team consisted of 15 cyclists and seven members of support crew. Those who took part raised money for the charity Revitalise.
Founded in 1963, Revitalise are a national charity who provide breaks and holidays for disabled people and carers across two purpose-built centres. The charities three main objectives are to provide specially designed and equipped centres where disabled people can have an enjoyable break. To provide support for family carers and to provide residential volunteering opportunities for people of all ages.
For the last 24 years, Liam and a group of his friends from Wirral have been a part of Tri-4-Life. They raise money for charities – local, regional, and national – by taking on challenges around the world. In May 2022, they embarked on the Centenary Mount Everest Expedition and have since continued to challenge and raise money for amazing causes. Their remarkable journey combines adventure, friendship, and a commitment to making a positive impact on their community and beyond.
Liam said about the challenge, “Another tough cycling adventure through the most beautiful and breath-taking scenery, together with friends in remembrance and friendship. It was also good training for our upcoming cycling challenge across France for the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day memorial in June.”
