The Forshaw Group is proud to represent the women that operate across our workforce, celebrating women within the construction industry not only on International Women’s Day (8 March), but every day.
With this year’s theme of #AccelerateAction, around breaking down barriers to gender equality, it is fitting for us to promote our commitment to increasing diversity by promoting gender equality, both internally and externally, with all our company does.
Supporting the future
The Forshaw Group helps to enroll, train and support women who are interested in starting a job within the construction industry and help them achieve their goals. In collaboration with local and national businesses, we have been instrumental in providing work experience opportunities and over 100 apprenticeship roles across Knowsley, including opportunities for young women within plumbing, plastering, painting, joinery, electrician work and administration. This shows our strong commitment to sharing skillsets with the next generation of women in construction.
Nurturing ambitions
Our company is continuing to invest resources and develop home-grown talent, with an industry-leading ethos and culture for the future. The many achievements The Forshaw Group’s team of women completed in 2024 included the Project 24 Leadership Programme, the Integrated Management System Auditor course, Customer Service Level II Apprenticeships, CIPD Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship, Mental Health First Aid training, First Aid Training, and British Damage Management Association (BDMA) Technician training.
Taking the lead
Many of our female members of staff are now progressing into leadership roles within the business. Our team of women have also taken on various Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) roles to ensure our business is up to date on all aspects of Training & Development, Environment & Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion, Mental Health & Wellbeing, and AI & Digital transformation.
Nicola Gale has been appointed as The Forshaw Group’s Forces Liaison and Armed Forces Covenant Champion. Within this, Nicola’s duty is to provide employment support to servicemen and women and their families as part of our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant Gold standard. She will also attend Armed Forces employment events. Nicola will be the point of contact at the business for any queries and support other businesses that have also signed the Armed Forces Covenant promise.
Doing good
Kimberley Meadows, Ashleigh O’Callaghan, Laura Williams and Natasha Hurley have also been appointed as The Forshaw Group’s Health & Wellbeing Champions. This involves supporting the wellbeing and mental health of staff within The Forshaw Group and tapping into services that can improve the health and wellbeing of our employees. They are also engaging with local and national charity and community fund-raising events, including organising and taking part in the Cancer Research Race for Life in Liverpool’s Sefton Park, now an annual team event.
In December 2024, The Forshaw Group was proud to once again support the Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ toy appeal and Knowsley Food Bank, with festive treats for children and families in need. Natasha Hurley and Sian Meath were responsible for organising, coordinating, and delivering the team’s contributions, to make Christmas a better time for everyone.
Celebrating talent
Speaking of the talented women at The Forshaw Group, our company’s managing director, Liam Hanlon, says “we’re very proud of our entire team at The Forshaw Group. Everyone has their part to play in the company’s success, and on international days of celebration like #IWD2025, it’s great to highlight some of the extra lengths the team goes to, to support our business, our community and our industry.
“Congratulations to our formidable team of women here at The Forshaw Group and all they have achieved and will continue to achieve in the years to come.
“Our company motto is to ‘attract, train and retain’ the industry talent for the future. We hope we will encourage other women to follow a career in the construction industry.”
