Here at The Forshaw Group, giving back to the local community and fundraising make up a big part of our company ethos. Fundraising is encouraged and all the team like to get involved. Let’s take a look at a round up of our fundraising from the summer months.
Race for Life
On Sunday 21 July a team from The Forshaw Group ran 5k in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. Held at Sefton Park in Liverpool. Having run the race last year, the team was delighted to return to help beat cancer.
Managing director, Liam Hanlon, said, “Well done everyone for taking part in the Race for Life. It was lovely to see you all out in the sunshine enjoying a lovely event for a great cause. Thanks to Ashleigh and Kimberley for sorting all the entries and fundraising page for us all.”
LV Treasure Hunt
The Liverpool Victoria (LV) annual treasure hunt for charity took place on the 6 and 7 June. This year the scavenger styled hunt clues took teams around Birmingham to take photos at different monuments. This year The Forshaw Group team included Danielle Seddon, Nicola Gale, Dave Ghiocchi and Ryan Green.
The challenge supported the charity, Family Action. The charity was founded in 1869 to build better lives for our communities, to help families and prevent social exclusion. Today it works with over 60,000 families in 160 community-based services.
The team had a great time and found it the perfect way to get to know each other better. LV raised £13,500 in total and approximately 50 teams took part in the challenge.
Rustman V11
On Sunday 4 August, our managing director Liam Hanlon and a team of 32 people from Wirral took on the annual Rustman V11 challenge. The adventure started in Birkenhead and finished in Holyhead. In a series of challenges including swimming, running and cycling, the team took on the Dee Estuary, the Great Orme, the Menai Straits and Holyhead Mountain and many more.
The challenge is to raise much needed funds for the Royal National Lifeboat Association for its 200th anniversary. This year’s route passed seven RNLI stations. Several team members have close family links to the service, and the whole team has the greatest respect and gratitude for the RNLI’s tireless commitment to saving lives at sea.
Our managing director and event organiser, Liam Hanlon said about the challenge: “The seventh Rustman event combined swimming, cycling and running in our own community and along our own coastline. Covering similar distances to the official Ironman, it carried out with the freedom and friendship of this amazing community. We broke a few rules along the way, and as promised, it was another great adventure.”
Mersey swim
The annual cross Mersey swim took place on 10 August. The swimmers entered the water on the east bank of the river at the South Ferry Basin and arrived at Monks Ferry slipway. 20 pods of swimmers took part, each accompanied by a safety boat.
This iconic swim was in attendance by The Lord Mayors of Liverpool and Wirral. Roy Basnett from Liverpool Live Radio compared the day, and Glen Affic Brewery gave all the swimmers a goodie bag and beverage. The fundraising event raised £5000 to be split across 20 local charities.
