Our managing director and vice-chair of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, Liam Hanlon BSc (Hons) ICIOB DL, was delighted to recently attend the Blackburne House Graduation ceremony. Liam, alongside Alan Seeley, chair of Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, was invited as a guest by Lynne Kavanagh, the project and impact lead, to witness the celebrations of Blackburne House’s latest graduates.
Changing the face of education
Founded in 1982, Blackburne House offers unique training opportunities to support and empower women. Since its formation, it has transformed thousands of women’s lives. The event was hosted by Liz Cross, chair of Blackburne House Board, with a presentation of certificates such as in Complementary Therapies and Healthcare. Attendees were also treated to a performance by dance artist and ADHD Life Coach, Ithalia Johnson.
Blackburne House is now working with second and third generations of women from families across the Liverpool City Region, changing the face of education for women.
Closing the skills gap
Speaking of the graduation, Liam Hanlon said: “As an employer looking to recruit in the Liverpool city region and being invested in encouraging more women into the workplace, this event was one not to be missed. We have an ongoing commitment in helping to close the skills shortage within the construction industry and encouraging more women into the industry will be an important step towards this.”
