A unique feature of The INS-PIRE Academy is its annual enhancement days, designed to give apprentices exposure to the broader industry whilst promoting personal development.
Aiming high
Friday 16 May saw INS-PIRE apprentices and trainees take part in the first Enhancement Day of 2025. This was a Mountain Adventure Day, with the team tackling Blencathra, in the picturesque Lake District.
The challenge was to summit Blencathra and our managing director, Liam Hanlon, was one of the route guides.
It was a fantastic day, with some great achievements for those taking part. A number of those attending had never climbed a mountain before. Everyone achieved the summit and were rewarded with fantastic views.
Striving for success
The next INS-PIRE Academy enhancement days will include:
- Friday 13th June – Abseiling Day with the Royal Marines
- Friday 18th July – Coasteering in Anglesey with the Royal Marines
- Wednesday 15th October – Subsidence Forum Training Day, Leicester
Onwards and upwards
Speaking of the INS-PIRE Mountain Adventure Day, Liam Hanlon, regional contact across Merseyside and the surrounding areas for the INS-PIRE Academy, and our managing director at The Forshaw Group, commented, “We are delighted that the first INS-PIRE Enhancement Day of 2025 was a great success, with all the apprentices and trainees thoroughly enjoying their time summiting Blencathra in the Lake District. It also was the first event to be held since INS-PIRE Academy relaunch last month.
“We look forward to the next INS-PIRE Enhancement Days, promoting adventure along with personal skills development, to promote a healthy lifestyle and community involvement for our apprentices, alongside their vocational training.”
