Designed to bridge the growing skills gap, the INS-PIRE Academy is dedicated to supporting young people entering the industry, providing structured learning, training, and real-world experience tailored to insurance-related building and repair needs.
The INS-PIRE Academy was pleased to recently hold its third Enhancement Day.
The INS-PIRE Enhancement Days promote adventure along with personal skills development, to encourage a healthy lifestyle and community involvement for our apprentices, alongside their vocational training. The previous Enhancement Day saw apprentices climbing Blencathra in the Lake District.
Abseiling to adventure
On Friday 13 June 2025, over 30 apprentices and their mentors from all over the country took part in an abseiling adventure day at Frogmouth Quarry in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Run by Ian Wooldridge and his team of former Royal Marines and members of the Royal Marines Association, the event was organised to support the INS-PIRE Academy and The Forshaw Group’s collaboration with the Armed Forces Covenant, as part of our community and charity commitment.
As well as building trust and rapport within the team, attendees faced and overcame their own anxiety and height fears.
On the horizon
The Forshaw Group’s managing director, Liam Hanlon, is the regional contact across Merseyside and the surrounding areas for the INS-PIRE Academy, and supervised the abseiling event.
Speaking of the day, he commented, “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed this abseiling adventure, and we are very proud of all the attendee’s achievements. We hope to inspire attendees at our next Enhancement Day – Coasteering in Anglesey with the Royal Marines on Friday 18 July!”
