In March 2022, our managing director at The Forshaw Group, Liam Hanlon, and the Tri-4-Life team, embarked on an extraordinarily challenging adventure, Mount Everest. The climb took eight weeks to complete, and the team finally reached the summit on 21 May 2022.
On Saturday 3 September, we all got together for a celebration of the team’s successful summit of Everest, and to watch the film premiere of this challenge at the Light cinema in New Brighton. The team was joined by special guests, the High Sheriff of Merseyside Lesley Martin-Wright JP DL and Margaret Greenwood the Labour MP for Wirral West.
For the last 20 years, Liam and a group of his friends from Wirral, have been a part of Tri-4-Life. They raise money for charities – local, regional, and national – by taking on challenges around the world. They decided to embark on the Everest climb to raise money for two NHS charities and for an organisation called Community Action Nepal, which is a UK charity that works with some of the most remote communities in the Nepalese Himalaya, delivering life-changing education, healthcare, agriculture, and livelihood programmes.
Liam Hanlon said after he returned from Everest: “Despite all the training and preparation, I’m not sure anything or anyone can prepare you for what comes next. It pushes you to your limits physically, mentally, and emotionally. You are climbing Everest itself and you have to climb a mountain in your own head. It is an incredible and unique experience.”
The artwork displayed at the event was by young artist, 16-year-old Emily Salkield. Emily kindly painted the artwork for the exhibition, to be auctioned off for the charities.
