Here at The Forshaw Group, we like to encourage training and wellness. We have a number of events coming up for the teams, including ones focused on the armed forces, community and wellbeing.
The Merseyside Armed Forces Employment Fair – 28 September
As an Armed Forces Covenant Gold award holder, we will be attending the Armed Forces Employment Fair taking place on 28 September at The Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.
In 2022, The Forshaw Group was awarded the Armed Forces Gold Covenant. This award recognises The Forshaw Group’s commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Covenant and community. The company provides new career opportunities and has supportive HR policies in place for serving and former members of the armed forces community. The company also advocates the benefits of supporting reservists, veterans, Cadet Force adult volunteers, as well as spouses and partners of those serving in the armed forces, by encouraging other businesses to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in the Employer Recognition Scheme.
The aim of the event is to offer service leavers, reservists, veterans, Cadets, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and spouses the opportunity to meet with up to 40 Armed Forces supportive businesses. The businesses included are offering employment, training and apprenticeships across the city region. The event will also include an information centre called, ‘The Merseyside Support Hub’, where visitors can learn what support is on offer to them including housing advice, veteran support and much more.
The event is a chance to showcase the many opportunities available in Liverpool for the defence community. It’s a chance for those looking for employment, apprenticeships or a change of career to meet with armed forces supportive employers who have signed The Armed Forces Covenant.
The event will be on from 10:30 to 14:00pm and you can reserve free tickets here.
Wellbeing Workshops
Our very own wellbeing ambassadors, Laura Williams, Kimberley Meadows, Ashleigh O’Callaghan and Natasha Hurley have had discussions with Knowsley Chamber of Commerce to obtain grants through Working Well to promote and enable a healthy productive workforce, with optimum levels of wellbeing.
The four members of the team were awarded the Gold Standard Working Well Award last November by the Knowsley Chamber of Commerce.
Working Well can support employers with practical advice. It can also help companies that plan to introduce new measures, such as resilience workshops, mental health awareness sessions, mindfulness and coping with change or stress. To ensure that companies are following good practice, companies applying for a Working Well grant must demonstrate that they have consulted with their workforce to show evidence of staff consultation and feedback.
The Forshaw Group is being offered the chance to attend one of the following workshops which will take place during working hours on a date to be confirmed. Workshop one will include managing and coping with stress and anxiety and workshop two will be mindfulness and meditation. The sessions will be interactive and educational and will teach coping techniques to help manage stress and anxiety.
