It was all hands on deck at The Forshaw Group (TFG) over the weekend, with a team organising and packing 500 Builder Book boxes, ready for delivery around the local area.
About Builder Book
Builder Book was established in 2021. It was set up by several authors who wanted to give back to the community of Liverpool. Their aim was to highlight the importance of literacy, especially after the pandemic when libraries were closed, and children were home learning. The authors work closely with the local communities who liaise with vulnerable families to find who would benefit most.
Builder Book is about a love of reading, books, writing and making reading fun. Each Builder Book box contains donated books, paper crafts, scene setters, characters to move around the scenes, notebooks, stationery kits and information about local services. Builder Book believes that by introducing reading, writing and creating at an early age, the children they help are given the best possible start and a lifelong love of learning.
As an organisation, TFG strives to be involved in as many community-led projects as possible, aiding our commitment to social value and giving back to the community. We aided the logistics of the day, delivering the boxes with pallets trucks.
Our managing director, Liam Hanlon, was there to help with delivery on the day, and he said: “Builder Book is a great scheme that we like to help with. Logistically we have the vans and the people to help with local causes like this one, that make a difference to children in the community. Everyone on the day worked hard and gave up their free time.”
