The Forshaw Group is proud to be supporting and sponsoring Shelter Merseyside’s ‘Strictly Goes to Hollywood’ events, to be held in March and November 2022.
On 31 January, Liam Hanlon and other members of The Forshaw Group team attended the launch event at Liverpool Gin Distillery, where the volunteer participants met with their professional dance partner, and were allocated their dance style and music from popular Hollywood films.
Shelter UK is a charity that supports people affected by bad housing and homelessness. Shelter offers a wide range of services including housing advice, both in person and online, provision of legal services, meaning people can be represented in court, and DIY skills advice, teaching people how to maintain their own homes.
It costs just under a quarter of a million pounds to provide all advice services for just one week, but on a smaller scale, £15 could fund the web chat for someone facing homelessness, £25 could fund a face-to-face chat with an advisor, and £175 could pay for legal advice to help someone facing eviction.
The March 2022 dancing event will also support the charity Wirral Mind, which is a local independence mental health charity, affiliated to the national Mind charity. It offers a vast range of services including a mental health resource centre, counselling, debriefing, and check-ins.
12 contestants will all be raising funds for these two charities, and will be attending professional dance lessons, ready to perform on the night.
The November 2022 event will coincide with the new series of the BBC’s highly popular TV series ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and there are spaces available for anyone who would like to be a dancer for the night.
These elegant events will also feature support from the BBC Strictly team, judges and choreographers, with the chance for the audience to take to the dance floor following the evening’s dance competition.
Commenting on The Forshaw Group’s sponsorship, our managing director, Liam Hanlon, said: “We are delighted to be supporting such a superb set of events, in aid of extremely worthwhile causes.
“The North West is a new region for Shelter to be operating in, focusing mainly on Liverpool, Merseyside, Manchester and Chester. As ‘Strictly Goes to Hollywood’ will be Shelter’s first larger community fundraising event in Merseyside, we’re really looking forward to putting on our best attire and keep dancing!”
