At The Forshaw Group we are proud to have made our pledge to the Armed Forces Covenant. This covenant is a commitment from the nation to acknowledge and understand that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve. The covenant supports serving personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families.
Ministry of Defence recognition
The Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) is a nationally recognised scheme that encourages employers to support defence services and inspire others to do the same. The scheme operates a three-tier approach of bronze, silver and gold awards, recognising different levels of commitment provided by employers. This allows the Ministry of Defence to publicly thank and honour those organisations for their support.
Bronze Award for The Forshaw Group
We are currently on the Bronze award level of the ERS, which acknowledges employers who have provided exceptional support to the armed forces community and defence by going above and beyond their covenant pledges. As well as pledging to support the armed forces, we promote being armed forces-friendly and we are always open to employing reservists and veterans (including the wounded, injured and sick), cadet instructors and military spouses/partners.
Tackling unemployment and the skills shortage
As part of our pledge to support the armed forces, we are pleased to be involved with Building Heroes. There are around 120,000 unemployed veterans in this country at the moment, and this organisation provides skills training to support some of them to move into employment in the building trades. The aim is to tackle the problem of unemployment by offering a transition to a new career in the construction industry. We are keen to support Building Heroes and address the issue of the skills shortage in our industry at the same time.
