Here’s some of the latest charity and business news from The Forshaw Group, encompassing activities from August and into mid-September:
Summer camp at Barry Buddon
Our managing director, Liam Hanlon, was delighted to visit the Armed Forces Cadets summer camp at Barry Buddon in Scotland on Tuesday 26 – Wednesday 27 August, in his role as Deputy Lieutenant and in support of The Forshaw Group’s Armed Forces Covenant. It is hoped that there will be more cadet recruits and support across this region.
32nd Across Mersey Swim
This year’s 32nd Across Mersey Swim took place on Saturday 30th August in difficult conditions, with 10 swimmers choosing not to start. 125 swimmers all made it safely to Monks Ferry.
Liam Hanlon said, “The support from the swimmers and all the safety crews was fantastic and the feedback from all those involved on the day, as well as the community groups, and charities, has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Commitment to Health & Wellbeing
As part of our ongoing commitment to Health & Wellbeing, Dr Joe Delaney joined us for a thought-provoking interactive session of mindfulness. 10 participants took part in the session, which took place on Wednesday 3 September, and provided some fantastic feedback.
Thank you Dr Joe Delaney for an insightful session!
“Disengage Autopilot: at all-time highs, be a pilot not a passenger.” Liam Hanlon was invited to the Henderson Rowe Round Table event on Thursday 11 September. The event included an interesting presentation from Ben Ashby, CIO at Henderson Rowe, to understand the political impact on global investment markets, and an insight into why so many business owners are choosing to relocate to countries outside on the UK.
Congratulations Liam!
We are delighted to announce that Liam Hanlon has been awarded his Fellowship with The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and enjoyed the grand Graduation on Friday 12 September at Drapers Hall, London. Congratulations Liam on this well-earned achievement!
Back in the board room
On Saturday 13 September, Liam Hanlon enjoyed being back in the board room as an Associate Director of Tranmere Rovers FC.
Boxing World Championships
As Chairman of Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club, Liam Hanlon was delighted to be invited to the Boxing World Championships, as a guest of John Spofforth and headline sponsors Brabners. The event was held at M&S Bank Arena Liverpool on Sunday 14 September. Liam enjoyed a great conversation with England Boxing CEO Jerome Pels about the grass roots development of the sport and the social value boxing provides for disadvantaged youngsters within Merseyside, and how this relates to the success of the World Championships being held in the city.
Careers Open Day at Rednock School
We were delighted to be part of the careers Open Day at Rednock School in Gloucester, with our managing director Liam Hanlon representing The INS-PIRE Academy, alongside associate director Chris Nicks from E G Carter & Co Ltd. It was a fantastic opportunity to promote the opportunities in our industry, and see plenty of interest. We look forward to the applications!
