On Friday 4 July, our managing director, Liam Hanlon, and our operations director and ESG Champion for Training and Development, John-Joseph Calvert, were delighted to attend Kirkby High School. This was in order to congratulate the students who had successfully completed their work experience with our company.
Training for the future
Eight students attended this work experience after expressing an interest in construction skills. During their work experience with us, the students spent time with and learnt from various trades for property restoration in which The Forshaw Group specialises, including decorating, joining, plastering and plumbing.
Our collaboration with Kirkby High School, which partners with us for work experience and apprenticeship opportunities, coincides with our part in the Knowsley Schools Apprenticeship Partnership and the recently relaunched INS-PIRE Academy offering.
A success story
The Forshaw Group is committed to sharing its success and trade skills with the next generation, helping to bring about positive change and bridge the increasing skills gap found in the industry.
Recognised by the Chartered Institute of Builders (CIOB), the British Damage Management Association (BDMA) and other leading institutes, our Apprentice Training Centre shows a commitment to young people and future generations, to provide the skills required for our business and the industry we serve. It creates an ideal opportunity to raise the profile of the construction industry to young people and show them how to get involved.
We have been instrumental in providing over 100 apprenticeship roles across Knowsley, as well as into roles at our company, including opportunities within building, plumbing, plastering, restoration and renovation, engineering, decorating and painting, joinery, electrician work, administration and loss adjusting.
Liam Hanlon, our managing director, said: “It is hoped that these youngsters will address and bridge the growing skills shortage within the construction industry and ensure industry talent for the future. We look forward to seeing how these students continue to move forward with our apprenticeship scheme and become part of our industry.”
