Last year, we were delighted to introduce our nominated champions to embody all aspects of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) at The Forshaw Group.
Alongside their daily roles within our business, each Champion will be engaged in a number of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives, to promote and support the environment and sustainability, diversity and inclusion, training and development, digital and automation, and staff health and wellbeing.
Next, we speak with Joseph Chellew, our ESG Champion for our HMP Partnership.
Joseph is one of our senior surveyors, with a BDMA Tech (Claims), overseeing five of our current contracts. This involves dealing with larger loss claims and attending regular review and audit meetings with the insurance companies we work with.
As our new HMP Partnership Champion, Joseph’s role involves dealing with the Employment On Release program. He will be attending employment fairs at HMP Walton and interviewing prisoners that they deem would be suitable for work in our industry.
We find out more about his ESG Champion role:
1. How did you secure your role as an ESG Champion for the HMP Partnership?
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, I was approached by our directors Liam Hanlon and Jay Calvert to see if this was a role I would be interested in taking on.
2. What does your new role entail?
As the HMP Partnership Champion, I will be working with prisons in our local area to help people gain employment once they are considered for parole.
3. What is it you enjoy most about this role?
I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories.
4. What are you most looking forward to as the HMP Partnership Champion?
I am looking forward to the next onboarding sessions and interviews to see how we can help people secure a new life within this industry.
5. What do you enjoy most about working at The Forshaw Group?
I have worked here for just over nine years now, and something that I enjoy is that every day is different.
6. What next event/initiative are you looking to organise as the HMP Partnership Champion?
Once the prisons have got everything in place, we will be holding training sessions and also conducting interviews for the Employment on Release scheme. This is run by the HM Prison & Probation Service, which can arrange interviews with prospective candidates before they are released, so you can choose the best person for your business.
