The Forshaw Group team was out and about on a teambuilding exercise on 15 and 16 May. 44 employees demonstrated their communication and planning skills, while taking part in paintballing at Paintball Trax, at Midge Hall in Leyland.
The importance of team building
Here at The Forshaw Group, we value every member of the team and it’s important each employee feels motivated, encouraged, and confident. Teambuilding activities enable the team to bond better and improves efficiency within the workplace. Activities usually happen away from the office and involve doing pursuits you wouldn’t normally do on a typical day. The benefits achieved from team building are:
- Helps increase productivity
- Develops confidence
- Encourages creativity
- Improves morale
- Builds trust
- Helps identify future leaders.
Team building activities also encourage friendships amongst the team and creates a positive office culture and environment. We are passionate about addressing the skills shortage within the construction industry. Our slogan is to ‘attract, train and retain’. By investing in teambuilding, we can help towards attracting talent, encouraging training and retaining the team.
The paintballing
The event took place over two days. The group was split into two teams, blue and green. The teams competed in a number of strategic combat games to promote communication, planning and teamwork.
The rain didn’t stop the activities, and all agreed it was a welcome break from the office. The event supported our ‘working well together’ and mental health management commitments. It also supported our INS-Pire academy enhancement days with seven apprentices taking part.
First year multi-skilled apprentice Elliott Carr said “I have never done anything like this before, and I was nervous at first, but I enjoyed every minute. It was scary at times, but great fun too.”
Our managing director Liam Hanlon also took part in the day, and he said about the event: “It’s great to get the team out and about doing a fun activity. Everyone worked well together and despite the rain we all had tremendous fun and bonded.”
