The Forshaw Group is proud to continue to represent the women that operate within the construction industry and across its workforce. We have always been committed to increasing diversity by promoting gender equality, both internally and externally, with all we do within the company.
International Women’s Day takes place this week (8 March). However, we don’t just support women on this recognised day, but every day of our operation. We are proud to help enroll, train and support women who are interested in starting a job within the construction industry and help them achieve their goals.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, we have decided to highlight just some of the activities undertaken by members of our team over recent months:
It’s a gift
Last December one of our claim technicians, Ashleigh O’Callaghan and her female colleagues headed up a collection of toys to support ‘Cash for Kids Mission Christmas’, designed to ensure that all children wake up to a present on Christmas Day.
After generous donations from team members and their families, two large boxes jam packed with gifts for children of all ages, ranging from babies to young adults, were collected. All the gifts were delivered to Kirkby Fire Station. Ashleigh commented, “Hopefully with all our help, we will have made a small difference to a few children’s lives.”
Award winning
It’s always great to win awards, but especially great when The Forshaw Group wins awards – and not for just one member of the team, but four! Laura Williams, Kimberley Meadows, Ashleigh O’Callaghan and Becci Palin were all awarded the Gold Standard Working Well award, by Knowsley Chamber of Commerce back in November. An amazing achievement and one to be applauded on International Women’s Day.
Race for Life
Last July saw The Forshaw Group team take part in the Race for Life. It is Cancer Research UK’s biggest series of fundraising events. The fundraising challenge started as a women-only event in 1994 – and in 2019 it opened its doors for men to also take part. It has grown in popularity and now there are hundreds of events across the country, raising over £940 million towards beating cancer over the last quarter of a century.
Ashleigh and Kim from The Forshaw Group organised the day as part of the company’s ‘Working well together’, commitment. Participants could choose to take part in a 5k or a 10k race. It was a beautiful day for a run through Sefton Park. A fantastic day was had by all involved, well done team!
Our managing director Liam Hanlon said “we’re very proud of our entire team at The Forshaw Group. Everyone has their part to play in our success and on international days of celebration like this #IWD2024 and it’s fun to highlight some of the extra lengths the team goes to, to support the community.”
