Our managing director Liam Hanlon was delighted to recently attend the Armed Forces Covenant Northwest Gold Award Association Conference. Held at the Haydock Park Racecourse on Thursday 8 February 2024, this event was designed for members who have been awarded Gold accreditation.
The Forshaw Group is proud to hold this status, having been awarded Gold in 2022, showing our ongoing commitment to provide support to the Armed Forces community.
Following the welcome introduction, the Royal Naval Engagement Team presented the Royal Navy strategic defence update. Other presentations were also given about the roles of the reserve forces, and how they are managed and integrated into the businesses who support those who serve.
More presentations covered the Covenant’s duty to uphold the armed forces’ commitment to diversity and inclusion, promoted through the LGBT+ military charity Fighting with Pride.
With the Armed Forces Covenant part of the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS), the event also highlighted the importance of the Forces’ Cadet services, and their role alongside apprenticeships.
Speaking of the event, Liam Hanlon, said: “It was a very informative day, bringing together like-minded businesses and advocates in support of our Armed Services community. We are incredibly proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant and strive to inspire others to do the same.”
We are committed to advocating the benefits of supporting reservists, veterans, reserves, Cadet Force adult volunteers, and the spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces, by encouraging others to sign the Armed Forces Covenant and engage in this Employer Recognition Scheme.
We are proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant and community by providing new career opportunities, and we have supportive HR policies in place for serving and former members of the Armed Forces community. We will continue to provide the very best apprenticeships, training, and roles for our ex-service men and women, utilising veteran’s existing skills and adapting them for their new careers in the restoration and repair sector, providing a future for the Armed Forces community.
