25 years after graduating from the University of Chester, our managing director Liam Hanlon was delighted to be invited back as a Keynote speaker at The Sport and Exercise Sciences Careers and Research Conference.
Held on Monday 19 February, this event was hosted by Liam’s original lecturer, personal academic tutor, and good friend, Professor Daniel Bloyce – Head of the Division of Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing at the University of Chester.
Liam talked about his amazing achievements in summitting Everest, the highest mountain on earth, including ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’. The team climbed Everest to retrace the famous steps of George Mallory in a centenary celebration of the famous and wildly ambitious 1922 British Mount Everest expedition, which was the first of its kind with the express aim of ascending Mount Everest.
Liam and his Tri-4-Life team reached the summit of Mount Everest in May 2022 after four years of preparation, including multiple endurance challenges such as taking the plunge to swim the Great Glen Lochs of Scotland , a month-long mountain climb preparation in Nepal, and the final climbing event of Moel Siabod.
The ascent took over a month, with Liam and the team facing extreme dangers, including sheer ice walls and storms which would see them confined to their tents for days on end.
However, the team was rewarded with spectacular views and a breathtaking challenge which will stay with them for a lifetime.
