It is always nice to see the community come together and ‘wipe the floor’! It was tools at the ready at Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club (ABC) in Leasowe for its annual clean up in preparation for the boxing club’s return to training for the new season. Our managing director and Wallasey ABC chairman, Liam Hanlon, got stuck in with fellow volunteers to clean up the boxing club and the area around it.
Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club provides boxing and general keep-fit classes, promoting health and wellbeing, to boys and girls in and around the Leasowe area.
Committee members, coaches, boxers, and volunteers turned out to help clear the access areas and ground around the club. Liam thanked Club’s secretary Terry Finlay for organising the working party and all those who turned up to help. Liam said about the clear up, “It’s important to keep on top of the care and maintenance of these local facilities that support the young people in our community. The club is invaluable to young people in our community through the fantastic sport of amateur boxing. A big thank you to everyone who volunteered to help with the clear up”
The Forshaw Group regularly helps Wallasey Amateur Boxing Club, most recently in March at the ninth annual Maxi Roy ‘Noble Art’ Memorial Boxing Tournament at Leosowe Castle. The event was a huge success, with 11 ‘on the edge of your seat’ fights taking place. The Maxi Roy ‘Noble Art’ Best Boxer of the evening went to Sam Stott. The award was presented to him by Paul Trickett of Bathgate Business Finance. The Forshaw Group sponsored the event, alongside several local businesses and community groups.
