Earlier this month, The Forshaw Group hosted the Knowsley Construction Forum at our head office in Liverpool. It was a fantastic opportunity for representatives of the region’s construction industry to learn more about tender opportunities, supply chains, contract wins, and make new business contacts.
Knowsley Construction Forum was launched to help boost Knowsley’s businesses, leisure and housing offer and to capitalise on the town’s close proximity to both Liverpool and Manchester. The forum was established to encourage and help local businesses and to present opportunities and economic growth.
The event began with a warm welcome from Neil Carson from Morgan Sindell and Chair of the Knowsley Construction forum.
Gill Roberts from Morgan Sindall gave a presentation on ‘Winning Work’, while representatives from Knowsley Works, a positive inclusion programme that supports local residents, discussed opportunities and funding for local businesses. Apprentice Martin Groves shared some of his experiences of an apprenticeship scheme. There was an opportunity to share best practice within focus groups too.
Summing up an interesting and thought-provoking morning, our managing director, Liam Hanlon, commented,
“It’s been brilliant to host such a prestigious event that serves so many local businesses in the area. It’s really great to see a community brought together like this.”
The aims of Knowsley Construction Forum are to:
- Bring together and establish a network of companies from the construction and development sectors
- Develop, promote and create opportunities for businesses in the sector across Knowsley and the city region to accelerate growth and to do more business
- Improve skills, increase employment opportunities and highlight supply chain opportunities, eg. Meet the Buyer events, opportunities coming forward through Due North (the CHEST)
- Enable the sector to have a collective voice on local, regional and national issues through the Chamber
- Raise awareness around legislative changes, compliance, procurement etc
- Register interests to receive updates for tender alerts, property news etc.
