The Forshaw Group was delighted to recently host its first open day for 2022 with the Knowsley Apprenticeship Partnership, and welcomed students, parents, and teachers from All Saint’s High School in Kirkby, Liverpool.
Chief Executive at Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, Lesley Martin-Wright, explained to the audience the importance of young people engaging in skills training, for the future of our industries, businesses and communities.
As well as The Forshaw Group being involved in this partnership, a number of representatives from local businesses also attended the event, including Structec, JJ Smith and Hayes Electrical. These business leaders explained more about the types of roles on offer at their companies to the students, and the requirements they would need to be selected.
Headmaster of All Saint’s High School, Mr Tony McGuinness, spoke passionately about the opportunities being offered by this successful partnership between the school and these businesses.
The students then took part in several practical demonstrations and collaborative presentations, touring The Forshaw Group’s training facilities, before watching a video biography of Mike Dryhurst giving great insight into his five-year apprentice journey; from leaving school to attaining his HNC with The Forshaw Group.
Sam, a first-year apprentice from JJ Smith, also talked to the students about his transition from school to the workplace, before a Q&A session was held as a chance for the students to enquire further about anything they had learned during the day.
Liam Hanlon, managing director at The Forshaw Group, said: “We are very proud to host these open days, for students to learn more about the opportunities available in the sector and community, and hear first-hand from some of our successful apprentices.
“A huge thank you to our team members Dave Chiocchi, Graeme English, and Dean Chandler for their help in making the day such a success. We look forward to hosting more in the future.”
